The 67th annual Cannes Film Festival has only just begun but we have noticed some fashion trends that are leading on the red carpet. One of our favourite trends is burgundy, and at the ‘Grace of Monaco‘ Premiere we have seen three statement-making celeb gowns in that colour.
The Gossip Girl actress (and the lucky wife of Ryan Reynolds!) took a stroll on the star-studded festival’s opening ceremony in a burgundy Gucci Premiere gown. The beautiful design seduced with a dramatic thigh-high slit and open back detailing. She accessorized it with nude Casadei sandals and Lorraine Schwartz jewellery. Blake’s choice of Gucci gown was a given because she is the ambassador for Gucci fragrances. Anyway, she looked beautiful and was already called the best dressed celebrity in Cannes.
Why not compete with Angelina Jolie sometimes? Jane Fonda took up the challenge at Cannes Film Festival opening when she arrived in an Elie Saab embroidered long-sleeved gown from the Fall 2013 couture collection. The gown was near-identical to the one that Angelina Jolie wore to the Annual Academy Awards earlier this year. Jane completed her burgundy look with a matching Gucci bag, Jimmy Choo open toe heels, and Chopard jewels. But who wore it best? Jane or Angelina?
The model appeared at the Cannes Film Festival premiere of ‘Grace of Monaco’ but failed to impress with her dress choice. She wore a tri-colour semi-sheer lace Valentino dress from designer’s Spring 2014 collection which felt ageing on the model. Even beautiful drop earrings with ethically mined diamonds from Chopard Green Carpet Collection did not make it any better. Looks like intricate lace detailing is not always a recipe for success.
