80s glam rock fashion

Fashion week was only a couple months ago, yet already we are beginning to see the emergence of trend forecasts for 2017. Between Milan, Paris, New York and London we saw a lot of unique and exciting styles, and fashion forecasters are eagerly predicting which trends are certain to stick next Spring.

The Bathrobe

If you thought that next year’s outerwear was going to be all about the classic trench coat, think again. Bathrobes were seen on designer’s runways everywhere, from Band of Outsiders to Lacoste. The lingerie look was huge last year, so it’s only natural that this has extended to wearing robes as outerwear. These aren’t your average fleece hotel robes, either. Designer Ryan Roche presented us with a soft camel robe that has a chic, disco-inspired fit and plunging neckline. Jonathan Simkhai designed an ethereal white flowing robe so elegant that it could double as an evening wrap.

One Shoulder Tops

Perhaps as an homage to the early 2000’s, it seems that the one shoulder top is back. Countless designers sent models down the runway wearing this trend in styles that ranged from super casual to evening. Designer Chloe demonstrated this trend in the form of a flowy, boho-inspired blouse, while Yves St. Laurent created a one-shoulder top that looks like it belongs in a 1980’s David Bowie music video.

80’s Glam

It appears that the 80’s are back yet again. Designers celebrated this decade of excess with 80’s-inspired evening wear in metallic fabrics with bold shoulders and strong silhouettes. Balenciaga tributed the 80’s with a black metallic trench coat that features mile-high shoulders, and Louis Vuitton featured 80’s style mini dresses with batwing sleeves and glittery details.

Bold Stripes

Bright, big and bold stripes were seen on countless runways. Several designers, including Altuzarra and Opening Ceremony, presented this look in the form of knit midi dresses. It seems like with this trend, the brighter and bigger the stripes, the better.

More Options For Bags

After years of incredibly specific bag trends, it looks like in 2017 it will be all about finding your personal style. Across the runways bags varied in size, style, shape, material and color. Handbag retail outlet Open For Vintage demonstrates this trend perfectly with an enormous variety of different bag styles within its inventory.

With these five trends sure to dominate the wardrobes of fashionistas next spring, we can’t wait to see how these looks are incorporated into 2017 spring and summer fashion. Just be sure to keep up with these unique styles so that you can be as modern and classy as possible in 2017!
